Privacy policy

This policy explains what information is stored or shared when you use Phonokey, a special-character keyboard site (the “site”), where it is kept, and who receives it.

1. Information we collect

The site has no accounts or sign-in, and the text you type is never sent to our servers. The only time we receive personal information is when you send an error report.

• What we receive: your report, an e-mail address for our reply (optional), the page you reported from and your interface language
• Why: to check and fix the problem and, if you left an address, to reply
• You can report without an e-mail address, but then we cannot reply.

2. Information stored only in your browser

For convenience, the site keeps the following in your browser's storage. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.

• Local storage: interface language; settings such as font, text size and shortcut key; the keyboard tab you last used; whether rare symbols are hidden
• Session storage: the text you are typing and the cursor position, so a reload does not lose your work (cleared when you close the tab)

You can delete this at any time by clearing this site's data (cookies and site data) in your browser settings.

3. Third-party services

The site relies on the following services, which may receive your IP address and browser information:

• Google Fonts (Google LLC): loading font files sends your IP address and browser details to Google. Google Privacy Policy
• Web hosting: the servers delivering the site may keep access logs (IP address, time, requested page, browser details) for security and reliable operation.
• Error reports: reports pass through Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.) and are delivered to and kept in our mailbox (Gmail, Google LLC).
• Google AdSense (Google LLC, when ads are shown): Google and its partners may use cookies or advertising identifiers to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. See how Google uses advertising cookies.

This information is handled under each provider's own privacy policy and may be transferred outside your country (for example to the United States).

4. Cookies and personalised ads

We set no cookies of our own. You can refuse or remove third-party advertising cookies by:

• blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings;
• turning off personalised ads in Google Ad Settings;
• opting out of partner networks at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.

Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before advertising cookies are used; the legal basis is that consent. Every feature of the site works without cookies.

5. Sharing

We do not share error reports with anyone else. Information processed by the services in section 3 is governed by their policies.

6. Retention

Browser-stored information remains on your device until you delete it (the text you are typing, until you close the tab). Error-report e-mails are deleted within one year after the report is handled, or immediately on request.

7. Your rights

You can clear the site's data and refuse cookies and personalised ads at any time. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR), you may also have rights to access, correct or erase data held about you and to complain to a data protection authority. Contact us with any questions.

8. Children

The site does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
